Introduction
Alor Underwater Explorers (AUE) is the operator of Moko Alor Dive Resort and Naraya Alor Dive Resort, based in the Alor Archipelago, Indonesia. This policy explains how we handle personal data. We are subject to Indonesia's Undang-Undang Pelindungan Data Pribadi (UU PDP) and respect equivalent privacy standards for visitors from other jurisdictions including GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), and similar laws.
What data we collect
- Enquiry form submissions: name, email, phone (optional), preferred dates, party size, package preference, special requests
- Booking and guest records: full name, contact details, passport details (for transfers and dive insurance), dietary requirements, certification levels, emergency contact
- Email correspondence with you
- Server access logs containing IP address, browser type, and pages visited, retained briefly for security and operational purposes
- Anonymous, aggregated traffic data via Cloudflare's privacy-respecting analytics (no individual tracking, no cookies)
- Search query data from Google Search Console (aggregated, no individual visitor identification)
Why we collect it
- Responding to your enquiries and providing trip information
- Confirming and managing bookings, including transfers, dive activities, and accommodation
- Meeting legal and safety requirements (dive insurance, immigration paperwork)
- Improving the site and understanding which content guests find useful
- Protecting the site and our systems from abuse
Who has access to your data
Your data is handled by a small number of parties, each with a specific operational role:
- AUE management and operations staff in Indonesia
- Our Property Management System (PMS) hosted on Hostinger servers
- Cloudflare, which provides our content delivery network and bot protection (Cloudflare may process IP addresses for security but does not store personally identifying information about visitors)
- Government authorities where legally required (e.g., immigration, taxation)
We do not sell or share your personal data with marketing partners, advertisers, or any third parties for commercial purposes.
How long we keep it
- Booking and guest records: retained while you remain an active guest, and for up to 5 years after your last stay for legal/tax compliance and to support repeat-guest service
- Enquiry submissions that don't convert to bookings: deleted after 24 months
- Email correspondence: typically retained for 3 years, then deleted unless part of an ongoing relationship
- Server logs: 30 days
- Aggregated analytics data: indefinitely (contains no personal information)
Cookies and tracking
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or session-recording tools on this website. We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar tools. Our analytics come from Cloudflare's privacy-respecting service, which does not set cookies or track individuals.
Your rights
You can:
- Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements for confirmed bookings)
- Object to how we use your data
- Lodge a complaint with the relevant authority in your jurisdiction

International transfers
Your data may be processed in Indonesia (where AUE is based and our PMS is hosted) and in countries where Cloudflare operates infrastructure. We take reasonable steps to ensure data is protected wherever it is processed.
Security
We protect your data with reasonable technical and organizational measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted staff access, and secure password practices on our PMS. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your information with care.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. We encourage you to review it occasionally.
